Nice and Knotty

I’ll just come right out and say it: I love to crochet! I crochet during 95% of my free time. I love it so much that I opened an online shop called Nice and Knotty, so I could sell the items I make (and have an excuse to crochet even more).

Almost 2 years ago, I was living in a 350-square-foot Texas hotel room with my boyfriend. (More on why we were there later!) The town we lived in was quite small with nothing much to do. I was bored one day and desperate for something to occupy my time. I had brought my grandmother’s crochet hooks and a bit of scrap yarn with me with the intent of “learning to crochet one day”. Well, today was that day! I pulled out my supplies, scoured YouTube for a video that I could follow and started teaching myself to crochet. Since the moment I mastered my first single crochet stitch, I haven’t stopped crocheting for more than a few days at a time.

I’m currently working on an order placed in my online shop for a baby blanket with matching booties and a hat. Here’s a peek at the design that the blanket is forming. It's a simple Granny Square pattern but I think it looks lovely.

If you want to look at past items I’ve made or the items I have listed for sale, the links for my online shop and facebook page are listed at the bottom of this post.

About Me

Welcome to my blog! I thought I would start off with a little information about myself.

My name is Jessica. I am a graduate of the Journalism program of Eastern Washington University. I am a self-taught crochet addict who has an online shop called Nice and Knotty. Along with crochet, I am also obsessed with DIY projects, cooking/baking, writing and scrapbooking.
I'm the oldest of my 4 siblings, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. My boyfriend, Blake, is my best friend and better half. You'll hear more about all of them as I continue posting. :)
My idea behind starting this blog was using it as a way to gain more writing experience and strengthen my voice. Not wanting to limit my choice of topics, I thought it would be a fun way to share my projects, creations and musings with others. I hope you enjoy following me on my adventures!
